It is easy to criticize when you are not in the position of the person who makes the tough decisions. I agree that Erin and all the critics who come out of the woodwork after a referendum failure need to get much more involved early on in order to have credibility.
Now that the referendum has failed again, will Erin and her comrades step up to the plate and become familiar with the issues? Throwing out a solution like expanding East Campus makes me think that she wasn't really tapped into the decision making process. The board rightfully eliminated this option because it is costly now, it will be costly in the future when they have to expand again, and it doesn't realy solve the problems of overcrowding. I bet that Erin and her ilk would be the first to complain when the district cuts the ribbon on an East expansion and then has to immediately go for another referendum because the expansion is already overcrowded. They would all be screaming, "Why didn't you prepare/plan better?" The plan that has been offered for the past 3 years will keep the district from asking for referendum after referendum every other year. I for one like that kind of planning.
Step up to the plate now and start attending board meetings. You'll be surprised at what a great job these people are doing.

What are we doing in Homer?[GLARE]

It sounds like this property may never be sold to developers and that this will prohibit any real economic growth in our Village.
Is this true? Will the owners sell or are they planning on keeping the family farm?

New Lenox, Lemont and Lockport will take advantage of all the development that 355 will bring. Homer will get sloppy seconds (if we can get anything at all) because the leaders cannot make committments to development right now.
There will be plenty of green space for us to enjoy, but we will all have to move away because we can't afford the taxes!
We need development now and we are missing this wonderful opportunity.

You may be right in my rush to judgment on the current administration. I guess that I would like to see something with regard to our plans for the 159th Street corridor and other areas that we can use for commercial development. I just see a lack of vision right now except for the preservation of more and more land. I'm not against green space, I just think there needs to be a balance[SMILE].

Preserving even more Open Space is just another message to developers that we are not serious about bringing in the developments they would like to propose.
I wouldn't doubt it if the word in the development community is to bypass Homer Glen for greener patures in New Lenox, Lockport and Lemont.
Why is our Village government so afraid to welcome this development? What are they waiting for?[SAD]
